Rusty Humphries is a generous and wide-traveling
radio show host with a special interest in the military. Throughout
his career, he has sent DVDs and CDs to U.S. troops overseas, helped
bring the Moving Vietnam Wall to his local community, assisted the
state of Nevada in raising $1.5 million for the Washington D.C.
World War II Memorial, taken 16 families with children diagnosed
with cancer to Disneyland, and worked with troops in Iraq to send
school supplies to children there.
In 25 years in the radio business, Humphries has broadcast from
Iraq, Kuwait, England, Cuba, Mexico, Italy, and Israel. In April
2005, he traveled with just a satellite phone and digital recorder
to Iraq and Kuwait, conducting interviews with Iraqis on Saddam
Hussein, the insurgency, and the United States. A few months later,
in August of the same year, he went to the U.S. Naval Station Guantanomo
Bay Detention Center, where he served as a military advisor.
For eight years in a row, Humphries has been named one of America’s
100 Most Important Radio Talk Show Host, and he has been nominated
for Talk Personality of the Year by Radio and Records. His show
is now syndicated on over 200 stations nationwide.
While children’s issues and military issues are Humphries’
main causes, he is also working on a book, concert tour, and TV
show.
